How far in advance should we begin planning?

Standard lead time is 12 weeks for the 5-Day Curated framework, 16 weeks for the 10-Day Immersion and 20 weeks for a Custom Commission. The Atelier accommodates shorter windows when villa inventory permits, but the trophy estates in Uluwatu and Sayan typically book six to nine months ahead during the dry-season peak. For the December festive window, planning should begin no later than mid-July of the same year.

What is the all-in budget I should expect?

For a 10-day journey for two travellers, plan for USD 25,000 at the entry-luxury tier, USD 60,000 at the premium mid-tier and USD 150,000-plus at the trophy Custom Commission tier. Per-person per-day spend ranges from USD 1,200 at the lower end to USD 7,500 at the upper end, all-inclusive of accommodation, dining, transport, activities and concierge. What does the all-inclusive pricing actually include?

Accommodation in all stated villas, all ground transport (airport and inter-region), all stated activities, all daily breakfasts, lunches and dinners (whether private chef, included villa dining or the Atelier’s curated restaurant network), all temple and ceremony donations, all guide and chauffeur service charges, your dedicated 24/7 Atelier concierge desk, all butler service and tax. International flights to Denpasar, alcohol from external suppliers, spa treatments beyond the included programme, luxury shopping and personal items are not included.

How flexible is the itinerary mid-trip?

Entirely flexible. Every Atelier itinerary is reshaped on the ground at any moment by your dedicated guide. If on day three you decide you would rather skip the planned Tegalalang walk and spend a long lunch at the villa instead, your guide makes the call. The pre-trip itinerary is a scaffold, not a contract, and we have never received a complaint that on-trip flexibility was lacking.

What is the deposit and cancellation structure?

Deposit is 30 percent at booking confirmation. Balance is due 60 days before arrival. Cancellation outside 90 days returns 80 percent of paid funds. Cancellation inside 60 days forfeits the deposit but we transfer the entire deposit to a new arrival date within 18 months of the original booking. Trip insurance to cover the 60-day window is strongly recommended and we can arrange it through our preferred broker if you do not already hold suitable cover.

When is the best time to visit Bali?

The dry season runs April through October, with the peak window June through September delivering the most reliable weather and the strongest light. The shoulder windows of April-May and September-October offer 80 to 90 percent of peak weather quality at significantly lower villa rates and meaningfully smaller crowds. The wet season (November through March) sees afternoon rain showers but rarely all-day rain — many travellers actively prefer the wet-season Bali for its lush palette and quietness. How do you handle dietary requirements and allergies?

The Atelier’s chef brigade handles dietary requirements at allergen-zero level, including documented coeliac, anaphylactic shellfish, anaphylactic nut and severe lactose intolerance cases. Vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, ketogenic, paleo, low-FODMAP and Ayurvedic-aligned diets are routine. Religious dietary observance (kosher, halal, vegetarian Hindu, Buddhist) is also handled. We document all requirements in writing before arrival and the kitchen brigade is briefed by the head chef on day one.

Can the journey accommodate young children?

Yes. Several Atelier villa archetypes are specifically configured for travellers with young children, including the Sanur heritage bungalow, the Tabanan rice-terrace compound and the Nusa Dua beachfront estate. Qualified English-speaking nannies are available through our preferred childcare partner. Child-friendly menus are prepared by every kitchen brigade. Specific itinerary adaptations include shorter activity blocks, swimming-priority afternoons and earlier dinner timing.

How does private temple access work?

The Atelier holds long-term relationships with the temple priests at Tirta Empul, Goa Lawah, Pura Lempuyang, Pura Penataran, Uluwatu Cliff Temple and several lesser-known village temples. Private 5am or 6am ceremonial access is arranged in advance and includes a dedicated cultural guide and an Atelier-arranged purification offering. Travellers participate as guests of the priest, not as tourists, and standard ceremonial dress (sarong and sash) is provided.

What ground transport is used and how is it staffed?

Mercedes V-Class is the default vehicle for parties of two to six. Toyota Vellfire or Hyundai Staria are deployed for parties of seven to eight. For groups larger than eight, the Atelier coordinates a fleet of two to three vehicles with a lead chauffeur. All chauffeurs hold certified guide licences, speak conversational English (additional Mandarin, Japanese, French, German and Russian available on request), and are dedicated to the party for the duration of the journey.

Will my dedicated guide and chauffeur change during the journey?

No. The Atelier deploys one dedicated guide and one dedicated chauffeur for the entire duration of your itinerary, with second-vehicle standby for parties larger than four. This is operationally more expensive than the rotating-staff model used by mid-tier operators, but it is structurally important for the texture of the journey — by day three your guide knows your rhythm, your preferences, your humour and your unstated requirements.

What happens if there is a medical concern during the trip?

Bali has two internationally accredited private hospitals (BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua and Siloam Hospitals Bali) within 30 minutes of all primary villa regions. The Atelier’s 24/7 concierge desk has direct relationships with the senior medical staff at both, and we can arrange a private doctor visit to your villa within two hours for non-emergency consultations. Your guide and chauffeur both carry the Atelier’s emergency contact line and can summon support immediately. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended.

How is alcohol and wine handled?

Bali is a Hindu-majority island with relatively liberal alcohol availability. The villa cellar is provisioned by the Atelier in advance to your stated preferences, with curated Indonesian, Australian, French, Italian and Champagne selections at trophy-tier estates. Restaurant dining nights include sommelier-aligned wine pairing where requested. Spirits and craft cocktails are served by the villa butler at the agreed pre-dinner ritual time. Children and adolescents in the party are served alcohol-free equivalents at all curated dinners.

Do you arrange yacht days and Komodo extensions?

Yes. The Atelier coordinates day yacht charters from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida with several preferred fleet operators, and arranges multi-day phinisi-yacht extensions to Komodo National Park (typically 4 to 7 nights) through the Juara Holding Group’s sister yacht broker network. Komodo extensions are best added to a 10-day Bali journey to create a 14-to-17 day Indonesia commission.

How does the Atelier compare with global luxury operators like Scott Dunn or Black Tomato?

The global luxury operators are excellent at the destination-research and booking-logistics layer, but they do not have on-the-ground Atelier-level operations within Bali.
